Commercial Cleaning Companies - Increasing Your Customer Base The Easy Way

October 31st, 2008

As a cleaning company you are presumably always on the look out for increasing your business? This is what we are constantly striving for and I was under the impression that other cleaning companies were doing likewise. However not so long ago I made attempts to contact a number of cleaning companies in different parts of the country. 108 phone calls were made and only 9 were answered.

To me this was a staggering amount. It is true that all bar a handful had an answer phone system of some description. Like many customers I required some sort of immediate contact with an individual and not have to wait on somebody picking up a message and contacting me back at their convenience.

If I was having this trouble then ordinary commercial and domestic customers must have the same problem. Consequently all these companies are losing potential business possibly on a massive scale.

If you want new business then you must be available to talk to people when they want. If you are a small company trying to expand then it is often not possible to have your main telephone line manned all of the time. However there are a number of ways around this problem.

I Want to Start a Tractor and Steam Cleaning Business

October 30th, 2008

Many companies in the pressure washer industry will clean heavy equipment, but they don’t often specialize in it, as it is quite hard work. But if you start a business, which purely specializes in tractor and equipment steam cleaning you might be surprised as to how much work there really is. And because the work is hard work and you get very greasy while doing it many pressure washer contractors will not choose to do this type of work. That means there’s less competition for everyone else.

Most steam cleaning and high-pressure hot water cleaning companies would much rather clean concrete, truck fleets and other things such as buildings and parking structures. The work is less tedious, less wear and tear on the equipment and the employees do not get as dirty and complain.

There are many types of tractors to clean for instance a farmer might have agricultural equipment and they definitely need to be cleaned and coated or treated with special solutions so they do not rust in the off-season. Then there is construction type equipment, which must also be cleaned. This makes it easier for welders to weld on new blades on scrapers or hydraulic technicians to work on all the hydraulics that run the mechanisms and PTO attachments. Also tractors much the cleaned for the mobile lube companies so they can lube tractors or put on new tires.

There is lots of business to be had in cleaning tractors and in the steam cleaning business and it is a very lucrative business with high billing hours. Perhaps you might consider this is part of your next business. Think of us in 2006.

Cleaning Aircraft for Fixed Base Operators; Aircraft Washing Business

October 29th, 2008

Does it make sense for an aircraft washing, cleaning and detailing service to look to Fixed Based Operators for washing contracts? Indeed it does, as often FBOs or Fixed Based Operators will have available aircraft washing services to customers and then wish to control costs by contracting it out to someone else.

Recently I was asked if it made sense to contract with FBOs as part of an aircraft washing business and was told by a new aircraft washing service industry start-up if this at all made any sense?

Yes I agree and have contracted the cleaning from many FBOs, generally due to short labor supplies and their high insurance costs to add a rider on the policy to clean the aircraft too. At one time our company sold franchises for those wishing to start aircraft cleaning services, although now we are not selling franchises in the USA, due to the over regulation of the Franchising Industry.

It does not make sense, too many rules, too many Lawyers for such a simplistic business. But since it is a lucrative business it makes more sense to put in company owned units and one thing we always look for is FBOs as potential customers or sub-contract their work out to our teams. If you own an aircraft washing, cleaning or detailing business then this makes sense and you might consider this in 2006.
